When I think back to my start at Willems, 43 years ago, I especially remember the excitement of working on holiday on Saturdays. One of the highlights was working in stand construction. This gave me the opportunity to be away from home all week and learn new skills. What really makes Willems special are the colleagues. It is a close-knit community where everyone knows each other and the atmosphere is always pleasant. What I like about Willems in general is the social culture. It is a place where a lot is possible and where people support each other.

Why should people work at Willems? Simply because of the pleasant working atmosphere and the opportunities to grow. At Willems there is a lot of attention for personal development and initiative is encouraged. It is a place where you can be yourself and where you are encouraged to get the best out of yourself!

Work planner-calculator / Student coordinator

I started at Willems in 2004, first with a Saturday job and later as a work planner for the yacht building industry. After a short excursion, I found my way back during the Willems open day in 2016. My bond with Willems was revived. This time as a work planner-calculator in the Piping & Equipment department and as a student coordinator for the entire organization.

My best experiences at Willems are diverse and vary from calculating pipe systems to giving guest lectures at schools. At Willems, my colleagues are all enthusiastic professionals who are always ready to help each other, making us a close-knit team. Every year we have a team outing which only strengthens our bond as a team.

No day is the same at Willems, which makes my work fascinating and challenging. If you are passionate about technology, want to work with experienced professionals and would like to beat your colleagues in a game of karting or paintball during a team outing, then Willems is the ideal workplace for you.

I ended up at Willems after I happened to talk to my predecessor during a networking meeting. What immediately struck me when I first met colleagues was that almost everyone was called Marcel or Harm and the long tenures were also impressive, some have been working here for more than 30 years.

As for our team dynamics, we are a diverse group of 'normal' people who support each other to keep the organization running. The nice thing is that cooperation is self-evident here.

I came to Willems in 1990 after seeing an advertisement in Maas en Waler. It was after my military service and that's how I started the adventure. My best memories? They are diverse. From working in the port of Rotterdam to the special bond with my colleagues. We really are like a family, always there for each other. This way you experience many fun things, but unfortunately also sad moments. In those moments you feel the togetherness.

At Willems every day is different, which makes the work fascinating. If you like technology and enjoy working with experienced people, then you are in the right place. It is a mix of young and old who together guarantee to put together beautiful products. In addition, the working conditions are very good and there is a wide choice of personal protective equipment and clothing.
